Elder Care Services, Inc: Growing so more seniors thrive We are excited to announce the Growing So More Seniors Thrive Campaign! Together we can eliminate the barriers that prevent Elder Care Services from fully meeting the needs of homebound seniors by expanding our commercial kitchen and increasing meal production capacity by 50%. Every year, the number of people on our waitlist grows as the population of seniors in Leon County steadily increases. That means every day there are more seniors in our backyard who are hungry and isolated. And they are our neighbors. There are currently over 400 older adults on our waitlist. It's time to knock down some walls and expand our kitchen. 'Meals on Wheels is a powerful way of caring for seniors - who knew a simple meal delivery could do so much? Expanding the Meals on Wheels kitchen will allow Elder Care Services to serve even more seniors - many of whom are on a wait list right now. On a wait list... For food, friendship, and a sense of security... that comes with that daily knock on the door. I want to help to make that happen.' The expanded kitchen will include: • New, energy efficient, higher output appliances • Expanded pantry and refrigerated storage • Modern packaging equipment • Expanded assembly and distribution areas As a result, we will be able to • Dramatically reduce, if not eliminate, our Meals on Wheels waitlist. • Enhance services at our congregate meal sites and Elder Day Stay. • Grow our revenue-producing catering services for schools and day cares to fill the gap between federal funding and the true cost of each meal.
