Community Outreach – Ways to Get Involved

Getting Involved is Simple.

Elder Care Services, Inc. is dedicated to improving the quality of life for Tallahassee's seniors. That starts with YOU! Your support is what allows us to make an impact on our local community.

Emergency Food Pantry. Seniors in need of food have access to a week’s worth of non-perishable food items once a month. All donations come in from our generous Tallahassee community. Ideal items include: canned proteins, beans, pasta, grits, oatmeal, rice, nutritional drinks, etc.

Transportation Services. Assistance transporting seniors to the doctor, pharmacy, or grocery store. Oftentimes, our seniors are home-bound with no family or caregiver. By offering to help them run their weekly errands, you are assisting with maintaining their peace of mind.

Energy Assistance. Seniors needing electric, propane, and gas utility assistance receive funds through the State, City of Tallahassee and private donations. Elder Care Services provides fans in the summer and heaters and blankets in the winter free of charge to those seniors in need based on donations form the community.

Volunteer. Give back to our senior community by volunteering in a number of ways: Deliver meals to a home-bound senior, become a Foster Grandparent and mentor school-aged children, offer socialization to a senior through our Senior Companion Program, transport seniors to their doctor’s appointment, volunteer your time for an arts and crafts activity at our Elder Day Stay, or provide assistance to home-bound seniors needing assistance with house-hold chores.

Attend an Event. Participate in one of Elder Care Services many fundraisers throughout the year to help us continue to deliver quality care to our community’s seniors. Whether you choose to deliver a meal as one of our Big Wheels, enjoy our traditional German Oktoberfest, or adopt a senior through our Elder Elf Program, you will be helping us fulfill our mission.

Donate. As a local non-profit, we rely on federal and state funding, as well as, local and private contributions in order to operate efficiently every single day. With continued cuts from a federal level due to sequestration, the need for continued local support is critical. Your tax-deductible financial contribution allows us to offset our growing waiting list and continue to support services that keep seniors safe in their homes while improving their quality of life.
